A warm welcome to Andy Reid.........

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Andy Reid and his family to Team Aztec GP. Andy joins us for 2010 and the teams challenge for honours at the British 125cc Championship.

At the beginning of 2008, Andrew made the switch from a very successful racing career in Motocross, to the world of “Road Racing”. It wasn’t long before his winning ways resumed. In his first season in the Aprilia Superteen he achieved 6th overall in main championship and 2nd in Nitro newcomers. This included many podiums and a collection of wins. For the 2009 season a return to the series saw him take a 74 point lead the championship. A series of machine failures hindered his progress, however Andy took third overall in the championship, setting new “Track Records” and collecting some further wins along the way.

As well as the “Superteens”, Andy had now set his sights on 125cc GP racing. He took part in several rounds of the prestigious GP3 Thundersport championship, collecting his first win at Oulton Park. In the latter part of the season, Andy then took the step up to the British 125cc Championship at BSB. The highlight of which was a P4 in a qualifying session and points scoring ride at Oulton Park.

Bryan Nortje, Racing Director, commented, “The team had been hearing some positive things about Andy from various sources. Then, by coincidence we were parked next to him at Silverstone and we were able to get a closer look at what the lad from Northern Ireland was about. At only just 15 he showed a level of maturity in his approach to the meeting, even through a troublesome weekend. We will all be working hard to provide an environment for Andy to flourish, if we get this right, the results will come.”

Keep an eye out for Andy and the Aztec machine in 2010, we will keep you posted on further news as it happens.
