A new direction for Team Aztec GP……….

Published: 13/01/2010 21:36:34

With “Off Track” activity reaching new heights here at Aztec GP, it is with great pleasure that we welcome Neil Clayton who joins the team as Commercial Director. “We have been spinning plates” for some time now and the appointment of Neil will allow the team to focus on racing” added Dave Russell, who will assume overall responsibility for the project as MD. Neil added, “It is vital that we prepare the team with the right structure and plan with our partners for the future. This will include our progression to Spain and ultimately on to GP”.

While Neil is new to Aztec, he is no stranger to the paddock. As MD of the Doodson Broking Group, who specialise in the Sport and Entertainment insurance business, Neil has a wealth of experience dealing with clients all over the world. Neil and Doodsons are recognised as a business with expertise in those sectors. They are involved and understand the service needs of clients in high profile environments and operate 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

The business invests in a number of sports areas and all have a focus on developing talent. “We look to support those where we can make a difference. Aztec GP and its commitment to producing their own machine and bringing through young talented riders is very appealing” added Neil. “We have a lot of talent in the UK in lots of areas of sport and entertainment, often this does not get to reach its full potential as the people don’t have the funds to progress. Right now I am interested in working within the motorsports sector, adding value to Aztec GP and the sport as a whole.

Married to Janet with two daughters, Emily 18 and Sophie 15, Neil has been following motorsport since he was 8 years old. “I was hooked early on, an enthusiastic fan at Crewe Speedway, Motocross and Superbikes soon appeared on my radar. My first big road race event was the Transatlantic Trophy back in 1979, I’ve not looked back since.

We look forward to a long and successful relationship with Neil and his colleagues at the Doodson Broking Group.
